BRKB Builder Restricted to Kitchen Bathroom & Laundries

This program will provide you with the knowledge and managerial skills to meet the technical qualifications for the Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC) Builder Restricted to Kitchen Bathroom & Laundries licence. Check with the QBCC on what the Builder Restricted to Kitchen Bathroom and Laundries licence allows you to build. This information is available on the QBCC website www.qbcc.qld.gov.au

Entry Requirements

This program does not have any specific entry requirements. However, completion of Year 12 English and Mathematics is recommended. The program meets the technical qualifications requirement of the QBCC Builder Low Rise – Supervisor licence.

Study Duration and Enrolment Periods

Enrolments are taken on an ongoing basis. Students can enrol at any time 24/7 on-line, over the phone or in person during business hours. Enrolment is for a period of 12 months.

Program Articulation

After successful completion of Builder Restricted to Kitchen Bathroom & Laundries, you may continue with your studies by enrolling in CPC40120 Certificate IV in Building & Construction (Building) and/or CPC50220 Diploma of Building & Construction (Building). Some Certificate IV competencies count towards the Diploma program.

Enrolment in this program is based on your completion of the Enrolment Form available on our website www.National Skills.com.au. Look for: BRKB-Builder Restricted to Kitchen Bathroom & Laundries OR Builder Low Rise.

Also you can enrol in person with an assessor.

Recognition of Prior Learning

Applicants may receive acknowledgment of their knowledge and experiences through Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL). Evidence for RPL may include:

  • previous study e.g. qualifications, industry training professional development programs or units

CPCCBC4002 Manage work health and safety in the building and construction workplace

This unit specifies the outcomes required to conduct an OHS risk analysis, including the inspection of workplaces for hazards. The development and implementation of appropriate responses to reduce risks are also addressed, including responses required by State/Territory legislation and regulation. The unit requires that candidates have a comprehensive and appropriate understanding of the complex range of legislative and workplace requirements for managing risk in building and construction workplaces.

CPCCBC4003 Select, prepare and administer a construction contract

This unit specifies the outcomes required to select and prepare appropriate construction contracts including the sections, clauses and conditions for low-rise construction projects. The ability to interpret complex documents, communicate clearly and succinctly and negotiate are essential skills.

CPCCBC4004 Identify and produce estimated costs for building and construction projects

This unit specifies the outcomes required to establish the estimated costs associated with the acquisition of materials and labour on building and construction sites together with the application of relevant overhead costs and margins. Knowledge of physical resource and supplier identification, assessment of the availability of and requirements for skilled labour and application of appropriate codes, regulations and approvals gaining processes is essential.

CPCCBC4006 Select, procure and store construction materials for low rise projects

This unit specifies the outcomes required to supervise the systems through which materials are typically selected, acquired and stored on site for projects described by the Building Code of Australia as low-rise building or construction work (‘low-rise’ licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction and Class 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000m², not including Type A or Type B construction). It ensures the delivery to the site of materials which meet contract specifications and service requirements for low-rise projects.

CPCCBC4008 CSupervise site communication and administration processes for building and construction projects

This unit specifies the outcomes required to supervise the implementation of administration processes relating to residential and commercial construction projects. The ability to administer payments, supervise on-site communications, ensure compliance with quality control and record keeping processes are essential.

 

CPCCBC4009 Apply legal requirements to building and construction projects

This unit of competency specifies the outcomes required to apply legal requirements to building and construction projects of residential and low-rise commercial buildings (‘low-rise’ licensing classification with reference to Class 1 and 10 construction and Classes 2 to 9 with a gross floor area not exceeding 2000m2, not including Type A or Type B construction). Application of legal requirements includes the capacity to ensure compliance with all contractual requirements. A thorough knowledge of the application of current legal and regulatory requirements is essential.

BSBESB407 Manage finances for new business ventures

This unit describes the skills and knowledge required to implement and review financial management strategies, including by using new and emerging digital technologies and interpreting financial reports and other numerical data.

The unit applies to those establishing a business providing self-employment, as well as those establishing a new venture as part of a larger organisation.
