DURATION

RPL is a Fast Track process that can be completed in a short time frame. It's based on skills, knowledge and evidence you have acquired over the years to meet the requirements for the course. Maximum 24 months enrolment period to complete.

CAREER OPPORTUNITIES

This course is designed to meet the needs of QBCC Passive Fire Protection licences for Contractors and Nominee Supervisors for the following class:

  • Install and maintain – fire collars, fire-rated penetrations and fire-rated joint sealing.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

To gain entry into this course it is recommended you:

  • Completed Level 10 or Higher
  • Must be older than 18 years of age to enrol

To gain entry for RPL for this course, it is recommended that you:

  • Have been employed in the general construction or passive fire control industry and have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in residential and commercial applications for RPL.
  • Must be older than 18 years of age to enrol. A student younger would find it hard to have gained the level of knowledge and skills gained through life, work and study, that is required to meet the criteria of RPL.

DELIVERY METHOD

RPL pathway. Gap training is provided if applicable (please refer to the fees section for applicable fees).

Online Delivery.

WHAT WILL I LEARN

This course provides you with the skills to help you take on job roles that may include installation and maintainance of fire collars, fire-rated penetrations and fire-rated joint sealing.

DELIVERY

Although this is an RPL pathway, gap training will be conducted via distance and through workplace training. The learning component of the course is customised to suit the individual client needs. Accelerated learning is open to all participants providing that they are able to demonstrate competency in all units.

Upon enrolment, the student will be provided with an RPL Evidence Application to complete in their own time, which will enable them to provide evidence of their experience. Once the RPL Evidence Application has been completed and submitted to the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), then an assessor will check your file and contact you to arrange an interview.

Evidence for RPL may include:

  • Proven work experience
  • Life experiences (including voluntary work and leisure pursuits)
  • Previous study e.g. qualifications, industry training, professional development programs or units
  • References from qualified tradespersons

During your interview this will allow the student to explain the evidence provided, and allow the assessor to question the candidate on their knowledge skill and experience. The assessor may also conduct site visits to confirm the candidate’s level of knowledge and skill. If gaps in knowledge, skill or experience are identified, further training can be provided for the candidate to obtain a completed course outcome. The duration of this training is dependent on the individual candidate’s prior and current work experience.
