CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building) TAS

Course Code and Title

CPC40110 Certificate IV in Building and Construction (Building)

Duration

24 months

Fee

RPL - Fee for service $3600

Career Opportunities

This course is designed to meet the needs of construction contractors, managers, supervisors and workers that oversee work and quality including liaising with clients in the construction industry. These persons will generally work for small to medium-sized building businesses, or are in the transition stage of seeking employment in construction that require licencing as per the requirements of State Regulators. It provides the knowledge and skills required to coordinate the overall construction of low rise buildings.

This qualification is recognised by state builder regulators including Queensland Building and Construction Commission (QBCC), Fairtrading NSW, Victorian Building Authority (VBA), WA Building Commission, SA Consumer & Business Services..

Entry Requirements

To gain entry into the CPC50210 Diploma of Building and Construction, you must

  • Have completed Year 10
  • Have been employed in the general construction industry and have a minimum of four (4) years’ experience in residential and commercial applications
  • Hold a trade qualification (i.e. Certificate III) in the construction industry
  • Be older than 18 years of age to enrol. A student younger would find it hard to have gained the level of knowledge and skills gained through life, work and study, that is required to meet the criteria of RPL
  • Pass the LLN proficiency test

Delivery Method

RPL pathway. Gap training is provided if applicable (please refer to the fees section for applicable fees)

What will I learn

This qualification provides you with the technical and management skills to become a builder low rise and/or construction supervisor, covering
work in residential and commercial applications.

Completion of the general induction training program specified by the National Code of Practice for Induction Training for Construction Work (ASCC 2007) is required before entering a construction work site. Achievement of unit CPCCOHS1001A covers this requirement.

.

Delivery

Although this is an RPL pathway, gap training will be conducted via distance and through workplace training. The learning component of the qualification is customised to suit the individual client needs. Accelerated learning is open to all participants providing that they are able to demonstrate competency in all units required to gain the qualification.

Upon enrolment, the student will be provided with an RPL Evidence Application to complete in their own time, which will enable them to provide evidence of their experience. Once the RPL Evidence Application has been completed and submitted to the Registered Training Organisation (RTO), then an assessor will check your file and contact you to arrange an interview.

Evidence for RPL may include:

  • Proven work experience
  • Life experiences (including voluntary work and leisure pursuits)
  • Previous study e.g. qualifications, industry training, professional development programs or units
  • References from qualified tradespersons

During your interview this will allow the student to explain the evidence provided, and allow the assessor to question the candidate on their knowledge skill and experience. The assessor may also conduct site visits to confirm the candidate’s level of knowledge and skill. If gaps in knowledge, skill or experience are identified, further training can be provided for the candidate to obtain the qualification. The duration of this training is dependent on the individual candidate’s prior and current work experience.
