Qualifications and Licencing

Tasmania LICENCING

In Tasmania, licensing is carried out by Consumer, Building and Occupational Services and the required Qualifications are carried out by National Skills Pty Ltd 

A Builder carries out work in construction, demolition, alteration, addition, relocation or repair of any building and a Construction manager is the person responsible for managing building work done on a building site or on a building later placed on site.

To obtain a licence you must hold a trade qualification, and successfully complete one of the below: 

• Builder or construction manager (low rise) - Certificate IV in building and construction (building)
• Builder or construction manager (medium rise) - Diploma of building and construction (building)
• Builder (open) - Advanced diploma of building and construction management or building degree
• Construction manager (open) - Advanced diploma of building and construction management, or building degree, or construction management degree.

No formal qualifications are required to be a demolisher but evidence of competency is required.

Demolisher (low rise)– no formal qualifications are required however extensive evidence of competency to work within the designated scope of work must be provided
