RPL OR COURSE?

RPL

Recognition of Prior Learning (RPL) is a process that can be completed in a short time frame. It's based on skills, knowledge and evidence you have already acquired over the years to meet the requirements for the qualification.

Evidence for RPL may include:

• Proven work experience
• Life experiences (including voluntary work and leisure pursuits)
• Previous study (Qualifications, industry training, professional development programs or units)
• References from qualified persons

RPL can be conducted via online delivery and through workplace training.

If a student fails to demonstrate competency in some units required to gain the qualification, Gap Training is used to gain competency in those units. It can be customised to suit the individual client needs. Up to 4 units of gap training are included in your RPL Fee. Additional fees apply for further gap training units.

Course

A Course is a process that can be completed in a longer time frame. It’s designed for those who have little or no previous experience in this field of qualification. The course will help train you to achieve the required skills and knowledge needed to gain this qualification.

Course training requires access to a workplace and tools. Please check the student handbook for the list of resources required for each unit of competency. If you require access to a workplace, you will need to inform National Skills prior to enrolment so we can arrange access to a workplace for you.

WHAT WILL I LEARN?

This qualification provides you with the required skills and knowledge to become a Building Designer covering work in diverse building design projects. Practitioners further develop their drafting expertise and design capabilities to design, draft and document plans, specifications and documentation for buildings of all classifications, as defined in the National Construction Code (NCC), to a maximum floor area of 2,000 m2, excluding those of Type A construction.

Practice at this level is underpinned by the ability to analyse and synthesise information from a range of sources to generate design solutions. Practitioners work without supervision and may specialise in residential, commercial, public or industrial projects including new buildings and renovations.

ENTRY REQUIREMENTS

Entry points which demonstrate a candidate’s potential to undertake the CPP50921 Diploma of Building Design are:

• CPP40115 Certificate IV in Building Design Drafting, or
• CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting, or
• 52757WA Certificate IV in Residential Building Drafting, or
• Demonstrate relevant vocational experience, skills and knowledge commensurate with the scope of work covered in the core units of CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting. You can demonstate and obtain your CPP40121 Certificate IV in Residential Drafting through RPL

COURSE / QUAL RECOGNITION

CPP50921 Diploma of Building Design

This qualification provides you with the required skills and knowledge to become a Building Designer covering work in diverse building design projects.

Licensing Requirements:

To work as a Builder or Contractor in Australia you must have a licence or be registered.

A licence or registration may require a combination of technical qualification, experience, skills and knowledge prior to application. One step in the process of gaining your licence or registration is to complete training which has been approved by the licencing body in your State or Territory.

State and Territory jurisdictions may have different licensing, legislative, regulatory or certification requirements. Relevant State and Territory regulatory authorities should be consulted to confirm those requirements.

FEES

RPL - $5200​

• Enrolment fee $1500 and $3700 on completion
• Students have 3 months to provide their evidence.
• Includes 4 Gap Training units at no extra charge (if required).
• Additional Gap Training units are available for $430 each.

Course - $9750

Full upfront payment gives you access to our online training platform and all course material for 24 months. Further time extension can be requested at a cost of $180 per month.

Course Payment Plan - $9950

To make course payments more manageable, we offer a payment plan. This allows you to pay in instalments as you progress through the 12 modules of the course over 24 months. Further time extension can be requested at a cost of $180 per month.

Here’s how it works:

1. Initial Payment: Start with an upfront payment of $1500 at the time of enrolment to secure your online training module to begin the course.
2. Subsequent Payments: The remaining balance will be divided into instalments, which are due at the start of each new module thereafter.
3. Total Balance: The price of the course payment plan is $9950 and will be paid in full by the time you reach the final module.

This structure allows you to pay as you learn and ensures you can continue progressing without requiring full payment upfront.
